Strike Two! (We're out of luck...)
YES, the strike is real and it really does stink! So much for arbitration and 'unity' for the common good. I guess it's everyone for themsleves.
I spent the day yesterday walking 11 miles through the city to get to Chinatown. I know it sounds nuts, but my friends Kody and Azori were visiting from NM and I wanted to show them the city.
I must admit that it was quite the walking tour. I am not tired or sore at all today, and rather happy that I got to see a lot of the city I would have never seen on a subway car or bus. (Thanks to the strike?)
Anyways, I thought you would like to see some pictures of the traffic and our trip. The traffic is "monumental", almost like out of a movie!
Enjoy!
No joke here. Police guarding an entrance to the Subway!
This is the 125th Street station for the 1 train. This traffic gridlock continued all the way downtown to the 30's. (That's over 90 blocks, or 4 and a half miles!)
These are my wonderful friends, Kody and Azori. They came al the way from La Luz,NM to spend time with me. What did we do? We walked from my place to Chinatown (yes, that's almost 11 miles of walking we did in one day). We certainly got a great walking tour of the city, and I know they had a great time.
I'll try to get more pics from Kody soon. The traffic was amazing, but the walk through the city with two of my closest friends was priceless!
See you next post!
Ack! I almost forgot...
Happy Holidays too!
