So I made a wrong turn and ended up in... Switzerland!

Greetings to everyone from beautiful (and clean) Switzerland. Home of the Vaches Suprème! (Supreme Cows) I finally finished my clinical rotation at NYU Cardiac Rehab and needed a break from that side of the planet...so i came here to spend 11 days with a friend from many years ago. While my trip out here was long and tiring, the scenery, food and people were well worth the travel. I have to admit that my flight was not all that bad. I was bumped up to business class from Brussels to geneva..and even better was that £I was the ONLY person in business class for the flight. Yes, believe it or not I had my own personal flight attendant (who was very cute and nice) and had an entire section of the plane to myself. I did get a little silly and changed seats on her a few times, just to make her laugh.
I have taken some photos of my visit so far. I really cannot wait to return with my bicycle (and better French) to climb the mountain passes. My friend (Marina) lives in a really nice apartment in Friborg and works in Lausanne at Credit-Suisse (the big bank place). I took some pics of her place, the views and some others of a pretty chalet we visited today. Tomorrow we will drive 4 hours to the French/Swiss Alps for the weekend. I believe we are staying in a wooden chalet! Very excited.
I hope you all enjoy the pics and come back for more soon!

Sadly it took me a few minutes to figure out how to flush!

Where is Willy Wonka? Switzerland!! ¨Floor -2, please.¨

The view from Marina's balcony this AM.

And we think gas is expensive. This is 1.73 CHF per litre, so it's about 1.30 US per litre; which is almost 5.00 US per gallon! Ouch...

Kids went back to school yesterday...ahhh, my bretheren off to ¨the usual¨.

This pic really made me miss my bike! note the long winding road up to the next village....so tempting!!

Small little village we went to (Gruyère, I believe) Famous old place, lots of old stuff. Great views.

Beautiful green garden in the chalet!

My favourite picture so far! Garden and Alps

Apparently one of the former Lords of the Chalet was in a wheelchair. I guess PT is everywhere, even in Europe! I have some more pics of this one and another with a crude steering mechanism. Very interesting...

¨Rolling chair¨...loose translation from me for the wheelchair :)

Yes, i drooled at this sign... nice climb to start the trip... ack! i just need my bike.

Going to ¨Old Fribourg¨

Diagon Alley, anyone...?

Marina and I stopped at a local spot with a great view for a boisson (beverage!)...Panaché

Marina has an old scooter/bike in her parking garage. I decided to take it for a spin inside. I really wish I had my road bike....

See you après les Alpes!

One time in PT school....

I was really busy. Oh wait, that's all the time in PT school....

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the My DPT Adventure Blog. Once again I have been very busy this summer between my clinical rotation at NYU Medical Center, working with the New York Magic Women's Soccer Team, waiting to become an uncle and visitng my parents frequently on the New Jersey Shore. The last time I was here the semester had ended in the Spring and I had a difficult time with everything. Since then I have been working (as part of my second clinical rotation) at NYU Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit. It has been a really great and challenging rotation. My supervisor is very experienced and a really great educator. I have seen a variety of patients from those with Congestive Heart Failure, one with a BiVAD (BiVentricular Assistive Device- it helps keep this patient alive until a heart transplant because their heart had failed to operate properly), some patients with post-operative complications from surgery (bypass, heart valve repairs/replacements) and pulmonary patients with COPD (from smoking and other lungs diseases). While the patient population has been slow and sparse right now, I have been able to see other things in the post-operative unit and will be observing several surgeries in the upcoming weeks. This has been a great experience and I look forward to my last academic semester before my last 2 rotations next spring... then.... I graduate!!! (again)

My work with the New York Magic Women's Soccer Team was an amazing and enjoyable experience. I met the coach and President last fall at one of their club soccer matches in the city. The team was comprised of mostly college and former college soccer players form the Northeast. Several other players were from the United Kingdom and a few were from out of state. I took many pictures during the season and have posted them here for all to enjoy! This summer has been really busy, especially with the traveling on weekends to soccer matches out of state. In addition I am also coaching the Danskin Ladies again, the group of women from NJ who are preparing for the 2006 Danskin Triathlon at Sandy Hook in September.

This is Emma Thomas, from the UK. She is an amazing player and person! She injured her ankle in the early season, but came back strong and played very well.

Alison Shiner...she likes to smile a lot.

Emma and Steph in action at practice

Ronalee in action!

The team practices at LIU Brooklyn at night. The field is very nice and protected from the surrounding community.

Head Coach Nino DiPasquali at practice with Ronalee!

Emma and Kat. These two were nothing but spectacular this summer!

On the road with the team!

Warming up before the game against the Boston Renegades in MA.

My great friend Tom and his daughter Alice (who brought friends) came to the Boston game!

Signing autographs for the youth after the Boston Game.

The next day we drove to NH to play again! Here we are waiting to check into the hotel...

Lyndelle and Noelle dancing outside the hotel!

Warming up for the NH game!

This is me, actually doing some work!!!....for a change..... :-)

This is our home field at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY

The pre-game line-up!

This is Calvin, the assistant coach. He is a great coach and a great guy!

Once again waiting in the hotel before a game...this time in Virginia

The beautiful stadium at the Washington Freedom's home field...this grass is sooo perfect.......

We had to wait inside for the game to start because a lightning storm hit the area....it eventually cleared up

This is Laura Bassett. It was her last game with us before returning to the UK to play for her national team in a tournament. She is an excellent player and a really funny person. It was great to have met her this summer and I hope to see her again!

Kanae in mid-air heading the ball. Awesome!

This is another road trip to MA to play the Western MA Pioneers!

Me and Kim Canada before the Western MA game

Our final road game in Southern NJ. Here is Eleen Maggs, another UK player who is amazing. Janine is here too, one of the captains and a really great defender.

Me and Erleri, the team pillar of strength on defense! She plays for Iona College and is as great of a person as she is a player!

Ellen Maggs played keeper for this game. She warmed up well and did a stellar job too! She even scored a goal later in the game when she was switched to striker in the second half!

Kat has such a great smile!!

Go Team!!

Team Unity!! (with an backwards US flag in the distance...)

Kim Canada kicking the ball strong!

Erleri in my favorite shot of the whole season!!! Perfect timing from a perfect player!

See you next season!!

Don't forget to check the DPT Podcasts for fun movies and updates on school. This fall is the last scholastic semester and I wil be posting as much as possible....
